GayGamer Give Clover:ACT 8/10
Scott Nichols from GayGamer.net has written a gleaming review of Clover: A Curious Tale, concluding by giving it a rather tasty 8 out of 10.
"For gamers who aren't afraid of some hard thinking with their games, Clover: A Curious Tale is a no-brainer."

"[...]a cut above the voice acting found in most AAA games."
"[...]having never played a Dizzy game myself, all I can draw from the comparison is that I must have missed out on something amazing."
Dude, you seriously did. Go find a copy of Fantastic Dizzy and fall in gaming love. You most certainly won't regret it, and I dare say that the advent of emulators and save states makes it all the more enjoyable. But err, obviously make sure you have a legal copy if you're going to make a .rom backup...

Ready UP Review
The rather marvellous Jacob Chinchen has written a review of Clover: A Curious Tale over on Ready Up.
Sounds like he really understood and enjoyed the game.
"[...]like a fruit gum that you can’t help but chew, I bet you end up sharing this game with someone while you’re playing. It’s that sort of experience: a social single-player and that can’t be a bad thing."
I'm quite chuffed about this as my brother and I squabbled a lot when we were kids, but we often did sit with one person (normally him, he's older!) playing a game and the other watching and chipping in advice. It's nice to be evoking that same atmosphere.
"The watercolour landscape you’ll traverse is a thing of beauty, while the delicate piano score carries you along through each screen and you’ll find yourself waiting for the music to start each time you load the game, knowing that you’ll be humming along within minutes."
That's just plain nice!

Known Issues & Fixes
There was a bug in early versions of Clover: A Curious Tale that meant if you played a demo or pirate version, then purchased a full copy and continued from your existing save, you might not be able to progress any further.
This is fixed in all current builds of the game. If you have experienced such issues, please accept my apologies and download a new copy from your vendor.
A full list of symptoms is on the Clover: A Curious Tale forums.

Competition
I'm going to be giving away a free copy of Clover: A Curious Tale. Am I going to do a conventional Twitter/retweet lottery? Nah, too boring.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get the most amusing conservative rant in reply to the below trailer.
Over on GameTrailers there were some hilarious comments from mentally-dull types who managed to jump to some amazing conclusions about what the video was trying to say. I'm looking for the same sort of reaction, just to brighten up my day and remind myself that whilst there are a ton of morons out there, they were put on Earth for our amusement.
Amusing entries will be posted here, and obviously so will the winner.

Rules:
- Nothing illegal. No flaming, no posting in outrageously offensive places (I will personally break the legs of anyone caught winding up soldiers/their families). The idea is just to post it, and let the idiots flame. Not be an idiot yourself.
- Screengrab evidence. Send a screenshot of your best entry to compo[at]binarytweed.com.
- Evidence that you didn't write it yourself. Replying to yourself isn't clever or funny, it just makes you eligible to join a mental institute. Some kind of proof that the said idiot was posting on teh inforwebs before your post would be nice.
- I'll decide what I find funny.
- Closing date is Friday 12th Match, midday GMT.

Inevitable Piracy
I'm not going to engage in a long, rage-filled rant about this, as we all knew it was going to happen. In fact I've know about this for a few days, it just didn't seem like a terribly good idea to blog about it before the game was out.
Yes, Clover: A Curious Tale has already been pirated. I'm not going to give you any links ("Hey! Here's my credit card, take that too!") but it wouldn't take a genius to combine a search engine, the name of the game, and a popular distributed delivery mechanism.
I can tell from the build name and size roughly where it came from. It'd be unwise for me to be throwing about allegations, but let's just say it wasn't the press or anyone working on the game.
What's more hilarious is that certain gamez sites are linking to versions that are 400Mb and about 1.2Gb. Considering the game is actually about 260Mb packed, I've no idea what the fuck they're trying to pass off. Enjoy your virii though!
Sadly I didn't write a load of spyware to try and track down people's addresses who install the dodgy versions. I've got a multitude of training weapons sat in my flat that would just love to get intimately acquainted with the skulls of these people.
I mean at least if someone has the decency to try and steal my stuff in person, we get to settle the matter with a good deal of face-beating.

Clover: A Curious Tale - Out Now
Stop reading this and go and buy Clover: A Curious Tale from www.cloveract.com. If you're some kind of knobtard and need further convincing, cast your eyes down below or download the demo.
Initial reactions have been positive, with GayGamer commenting that the game has "better voice acting than most AAA retail games have."
The original got 8/10 from EuroGamer, IGN listed it as a Top Pick, and Destructoid gave it 7/10. And that was the ropey old version! Ergo, you'd be a muppet to not at least try the new one.
