Another Interview

XboxHornet have posted a new interview with my good self, mostly regarding Clover. Go take a looksee, and keep spreading the good word!

Observer Review, BBC Radio

Tomorrow at 9:40am BST, I'll be doing a live interview with BBC Radio South about Clover. Do please listen in and wait for me to accidentally say something inappropriate! They'll be using some of the game's music and sound effects too.

The Observer's review on Sunday was rather spiffing. "Truly exciting, and really does stimulate the imagination" wrote Will Freeman, whom you should all buy a pint. I wonder if he's related to Gordon? Does he have a crowbar?

Clover Hits National Press

Clover will be getting a review in this week's Sunday Observer. This is the first time that an Xbox LIVE Community Game has been reviewed in the mainstream national press, so the game has clearly impressed.

Make sure you pick up a copy - it's going to be on the back of the telly guide. Not quite the front page, but we'll save that for the next game!

Critical Response

As quite a few journalists will know, I'm slowly getting review copies of Clover out there. Moving flat really isn't helping the situation much, but it's getting there slowly and surely.

In the last couple of days I've had some quite interesting emails. One letting me know there's going to be a review in a national newspaper on Sunday (I'll check to see if I can tell you which one), one from a principal designer at a very-well established video games developer, and one from a university lecturer of Communication in Digital Media.

It's been great to see that people are enjoying the game, and also that people that really know their stuff are getting something out of it too.

Clover Reviews

IGN's XNA Communal Shower rates Clover as a "Hot Pie" (yes, strange I know) and says "If only more games that looked and moved this simply had as much heart. This one's a keeper, definitely."

Over on Eurogamer Dan Pearson gives Clover a very respectable 8 out of 10, desribing it as "an extremely relaxing and enjoyable experience."

Continue to spread the word people... There's 18,000,000 Xbox LIVE users out there, and they all need to at least try the trial!

Help Promote Clover

Major Nelson has tweeted asking for people to email him about their favourite Xbox LIVE Community Games. I should imagine that they'll then get featured in his very popular blog/podcast.

One in particular springs to mind...

If you can think of any particularly great Community Games *cough Clover! cough*, send an email to major[at]Xbox[dot]com. You knows it!

New Interviews

There are a couple of new interviews available at Digital Spy and XBLA Ratings.

Need Help? Clover Forums.

UPDATE: For help with Clover: A Curious Tale please visit the shiny new forums at Blitz1UP.com.

First of all, you need to download that Clover trial. And then buy it. Twice.

In all seriousness, if you've wound up here looking for help with the puzzles of Clover, or just want to ask questions about its various references, you can now visit the official Xbox Clover forum. Just remember that these forums are run by Microsoft and not me, so if you go talking crap you should expect to get banhammered in the most torturous way possible.

In other news, the nice folks over at GayGamer clearly seem to have good taste! If Clover doesn't sell well enough, I'll have to go into modelling...

Clover - Out Now, #1 Rated, Review

If you've been under a rock, Clover is now available for download.

At the time of writing, Clover is also the number one user-rated Xbox LIVE Community Game, according the rather lovely xblcg.info. If you've played the game and feel the love, go and contribute your vote too.

Forums are coming soon, promise. Just waiting for the nice people at Microsoft to set them up.

We've also received another review, this time from Small Cave Games. They gave Clover a spiffy A-, which is better than my maths grades at school. I've shamelessly stolen the bits that I like the most here:

"There are so many things that Clover does right[...]: Beautiful watercolor-based graphics, amusing SFX, great story (with a political tie-in should you look for it), fun characters, easy to pick-up gameplay, excellent puzzle/clue design, and a great 'mood.' For me, my favorite aspect is that I was able to jump in to a totally unique (yet modest) world, become entirely immersed, and achieve a strong sense of reward every time I figured out a solution. "

Now, all of you lot go and tell your friends, whilst I figure out how to do a PC build!

First Clover Review

Okay, I'm still trying to take holiday. Normal service will resume tomorrow. The ever chatty and helpful Mike Bithell from Blitz Games alerted me to this mini review of Clover:

"Now this is excellent [...] a template for what Community Games should be."

Holiday

Deejay is away from the office at present, but if you'd like to leave your name and number after the beep, he'll get back to you as soon as possible.

P.S. (Pre-script?)
Clover forums will be available soon, for all you lovely people that are stuck in the game.

I've checked my emails very briefly and got a lot of nice messages from happy Clover customers. I'll reply to them when I get the chance on Monday, promise!

Isn't it strange that the arms dealers in Trigfere is the only building with hooks above the window?
